May 28, 2010 16:54 by Emma Jessee

You may have seen her featured in the Chico ER last Sunday, but now she can add 4 little letters after her name.  Please join me in congratulating Tamara Schmutzler as our newest Cisco Certified Network Associate.

Tamara took and passed the CCNA exam on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, and now officially joins the ranks as the newest member of our Cisco Team!  If you need any help installing, configuring, operating or troubleshooting medium-sized route and switched networks, she’s your gal!

Congratulations Tamara!

Common Sense Security...

May 28, 2010 12:55 by Emma Jessee

Is surpisingly not so common. But don't worry, you are not alone - 52% of chief information security officers acknowledged having a "Moat & Castle" approach to their overall network security according to studies done by Qualys. This means that once the boundary security is penetrated, their networks are at risk. Still, 48% feel that they are "proactive" and are in a good position when it comes to their network security.

Often the terms network security and information security are used interchangeably. Network security is usually thought of as keeping out intruders or "hackers" by providing protection at the perimeter of an organization.  Information security is focused on protecting data resources from malware attack or internal mistakes by the use of data loss prevention (DLP) techniques.  Both internal and external security precautions need to be taken to ensure that your data, the life-source of your business, is truly protected.
