  • Sierra Nevada to open Second Brewery

    Sierra Nevada Brewing Company announced yesterday that they will be opening a second brewery to help deliver their delicious ales to the East Coast and beyond. Sierra Nevada's founder, Ken Grossman, has been thinking about an East Coast location for some time now, but were looking for the perfect location. It seems they've finally found it in Asheville, North Carolina where the beer culture, water quality and quality of life are just right.

  • It's Patch Tuesday! What does that mean for you?

    Now, we know that “Patch Tuesday” sounds to some like a good day to start a campaign to quit smoking. For consultants, however, Patch Tuesday is a day for updating computers and servers. Every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft releases the newest fixes for its Windows operating systems. At this point, if you are a ProSupport Managed Services client here at Matson & Isom Technology Consulting (MITC), we roll those patches out to your systems so your computers and servers are always up-to-date and secure.

  • Local Brewery gets National Recognition

    CNN Satellite News reporter Nathan Berrong recently took a beer and food-themed trip out West, visiting places that were known to excel in both categories. From Seattle to San Francisco, Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, CA was noted for it's exceptional India Pale Ale. Kudos to you, Sierra Nevada!

  • Esplanade House Celebrating 20 Years!

    Congratulations to our partners at the Esplanade House on 20 years of helping families in crisis. Esplanade House, a transitional supportive housing program for homeless families in Chico, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. A program of Community Action Agency, it started out in 1991 in a motel on The Esplanade. It was the brainchild of developer Greg Webb and physician Gary Incaudo, and since 2003, has thrived in its own facility at 181 E. Shasta Ave.

  • Glenn County Considering Computer System Consolidation

    February 16, 2011

    Glenn County is working toward integrating its computers into a consolidated system - particularly when it comes to the Internet. Supervisors gave Information Systems Committee Chairman John Linhart the OK Tuesday to explore funding options and put together agreements for a central "Cloud" to be installed by AT&T. Linhart and consultant Jim Umenhofer with Matson & Isom Technology said the County IT Committee has been looking at collaboration among departments, centralization into one county system and an economy of scale to get the most for the county's money.

  • Only you can prevent computer viruses

    January 06, 2011

    No need to rush out and buy a box of tissues for your computer when it gets a virus. A computer virus is simply a tiny computer program designed to perform mischief. The program alters the way your computer operates without your permission (or knowledge). Once your computer becomes “infected,” the virus can delete, modify or damage your files. A computer virus is a special little program, though, in that it can copy itself over and over again to other computers that may be connected to yours, thereby infecting your entire network. A virus can be transferred to another computer over a network, via the internet or email, or carried to a new host on a removable medium such as a USB Drive or DVD.
