Today in Facebook Newsroom, new tools were announced for Facebook and Instagram, designed to help people with time management. According to Ameet Ranadive, Product Management Director at Instagram, and David Ginsberg, Director of Research at Facebook:

"We developed these tools based on collaboration and inspiration from leading mental health experts and organizations, academics, our own extensive research and feedback from our community. We want the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram to to be intentional, positive, and inspiring. Our hope is that these tools give people more control over the time they spend on our platforms and also foster conversations between parents and teens about the online habits that are right for them."

To check out these new tools on Facebook, go to Settings > Your Time on Facebook. (For Instagram, go to Settings > Your Activity). Within the dashboard, you can view your average time spent on the app (for that device). Additional features include setting a reminder when you've reached the amount of time you want to spend on the app, and limiting notifications to help you focus.

These time management features are the newest in a long line of tools aimed at increasing productivity (and more realistically, winning back the good favor of the public ever since the Cambridge Analytica data breach).
