These days it seems like everyone is talking about the Cloud, and with good reason. Why take on the burden of managing your own datacenter when so many third-party giants (Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, to name a few), will do so on your behalf? Hybrid Cloud combines the features of both private and public Clouds, and does so in a more cost-effective manner, while remaining customizable and scalable.

Although this method of combining a public and private Cloud into a single computing system has been gaining popularity, many fear there are too many security risks involved to make it a worthwhile investment for their company.

As with any technology solution, we suggest conducting plenty of research before selecting which option will be best for your business. If you're considering implementing Hybrid Cloud, we suggest the following measures:

  • Perform constant risk assessments
  • Protect intellectual property
  • Ensure your current security measures will be compatible
  • Secure all endpoints in the network
  • Backup all critical data on external storage devices

Keep in mind, the private and public Clouds are independent of each other. Meaning, your organization can store sensitive data on the private Cloud while still utilizing resources from the public Cloud in order to keep your systems up and running.

When it comes to security for a Hybrid Cloud solution, it should be noted that it depends on a shared responsibility model. Your Cloud provider is responsible for ensuring their platform is secure, but each organization is responsible for securing the data itself. This means implementing access policies, using proper encryption, updating and patching machines, and monitoring all software installed.

From cost effectiveness, scalability, greater room for innovation, improved connectivity, and secure systems, there are many benefits to utilizing a Hybrid Cloud approach. If you're interested in learning more about how your organization could benefit from a Hybrid Cloud implementation, schedule a consultation below and let's talk!
