When you're working on a task that requires your complete attention, the last thing you want is to be distracted by Microsoft Outlook notifications, particularly when they're not important. Save yourself the trouble, and lay the groundwork now for better focus in the future, by adjusting your desktop notifications. Turn off desktop alerts in File > Options > Mail Options, then create a custom rule to allow notifications for emails sent from important contacts.
